These guidelines explain how content contribution works at ArunsYoga: what you can submit, which licence applies to your work, what you need to provide, and what you can expect from us. Please read them fully before submitting.
By submitting content to ArunsYoga, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these guidelines and to our Terms of Use.
1. Who These Guidelines Apply To
These guidelines apply to all content contributors, including:
- Writers — authors, researchers, scholars, and practitioners contributing articles, essays, translations, and educational text.
- Video creators — yoga teachers, meditation instructors, spiritual practitioners, and trainers contributing classes, talks, and educational video.
If you are listing a product or service rather than contributing content, please see the product and service listing process instead.
2. Two Publishing Tracks
ArunsYoga publishes contributor content under one of two tracks. Which track applies depends on the type of content and whether it is accepted for the Paid Section.
Track A — Public Track (Creative Commons)
Content published on the open, free-to-access part of ArunsYoga is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
This includes:
- Articles and written content published on the free section of the site.
- Videos and classes published on the free section of the site.
Track B — Paid Section (Separate Licence)
Content accepted into the Paid Section is not released under CC BY 4.0. It is published under a separate written agreement between you and ArunsYoga, which sets out the licence scope, term, territory, exclusivity, and payment terms.
Paid Section content is delivered under a separate contributor agreement that you must accept before publication.
3. The CC BY 4.0 Licence Explained
This section is a plain-language summary. The full licence text governs.
What others may do with your CC BY content
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material.
- Use commercially — including on monetised websites, channels, and publications.
What others must do
- Give appropriate credit to you as the author and to ArunsYoga as the original publisher.
- Link to the licence and indicate whether changes were made.
- Not imply endorsement by you or by ArunsYoga.
Required attribution format
Anyone reusing your work must credit it in substantially this form:
"[Title]" by [Contributor Name], published on ArunsYoga ([original URL]), licensed under CC BY 4.0 ([licence URL]). Changes may have been made.
Derivative works stay under the same licence
If you, or anyone else, edits, remixes, translates, adapts, or builds upon CC BY content published on ArunsYoga, the resulting work must also be released under CC BY 4.0. This applies to your own later edits as well as to third parties.
Important things to understand before you submit
- The licence is irrevocable. Once your content is published under CC BY 4.0, that grant cannot be withdrawn for that version. You may ask us to remove the page, but copies already made by others remain validly licensed.
- Commercial reuse is permitted. Third parties may use your work commercially, including in paid products, as long as they credit you and ArunsYoga.
- The licence is non-exclusive. You keep the right to publish your work elsewhere.
- You keep your copyright. [CONFIRM — or: Copyright in contributed content is assigned to ArunsYoga, and ArunsYoga grants you a licence back to reuse your own work.]
What this means for videos hosted on third-party platforms
When ArunsYoga publishes your video on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or another third-party platform, that copy is also subject to that platform’s own terms of service and licence. The platform’s terms and the CC BY 4.0 licence apply alongside each other; neither replaces the other.
Because CC BY 4.0 permits redistribution, ArunsYoga cannot prevent third parties from re-uploading CC BY videos to other platforms, provided they comply with the attribution requirements. If you are not comfortable with this, please tell us before submitting and we will discuss alternatives.
4. Writer Guidelines
What we publish
- Articles, essays, and explainers on yoga, meditation, Tantra, astrology, spiritual practice, philosophy, and traditional knowledge.
- Translations and commentaries on classical texts.
- Research summaries and educational resources.
- Practice guides and practitioner reflections.
Requirements

- Language: English [and Hindi / other languages as applicable].

- Sources: Cite sources for factual claims, quotations, and classical references.

Editing
We may edit for clarity, length, structure, spelling, SEO, and house style. Substantive changes will be sent to you for approval before publication where reasonably practicable.
Republishing your own work
Because CC BY 4.0 is non-exclusive, you may republish your article elsewhere. If you do, please credit ArunsYoga as the original publisher and, where possible, set a canonical link to the original ArunsYoga URL.

- Delivery: [Google Drive / WeTransfer / direct upload link], with the master file and a clean thumbnail.
Promotional assets — required for Paid Section content
If your video is accepted for the Paid Section, you must supply promotional material along with the long-form master. This is a condition of publication.

Licensing for videos published on third-party platforms
Videos published on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or similar platforms are distributed under ArunsYoga’s accounts and are subject to those platforms’ terms of service, in addition to any agreement between you and ArunsYoga.

- You confirm you have the rights to all footage, music, and images used, and that the content will not trigger third-party copyright claims.
- Each platform’s own licence terms apply to the copy hosted there.
- ArunsYoga is not responsible for how third parties use content once it has been published under CC BY 4.0 or redistributed on a third-party platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I lose my copyright by contributing?
No. On the Public Track you keep your copyright and grant a CC BY 4.0 licence, which allows others to reuse your work with credit. Paid Section rights are set out in the separate contributor agreement.
Can I publish the same article on my own blog?
Yes. CC BY 4.0 is non-exclusive. Please credit ArunsYoga as the original publisher and link back to the original page.
Can someone else sell my CC BY article or video?
Yes. CC BY 4.0 permits commercial reuse provided the user credits you and ArunsYoga, links to the licence, and indicates any changes. This is a feature of the licence, not a breach. If you are uncomfortable with this, tell us before submitting.
Can I change my mind after publication?
You can ask us to remove the page, and we will do so where reasonable. However, the CC BY 4.0 licence already granted for that version cannot be revoked.
Can I edit my article after it is published?
Yes, subject to editorial review. Note that your edited version is itself a derivative work and remains under CC BY 4.0.
Why do Paid Section videos need shorts and trailers?
Promotional assets drive discovery for paid content across YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and Facebook Reels. Supplying them is a condition of Paid Section publication.
Do Paid Section videos get the CC BY licence?
No. Paid Section content is licensed under a separate written agreement and is not released under CC BY 4.0.
What licence applies to videos on YouTube and Instagram?
Those copies are governed by the platform’s own terms of service, alongside any agreement between you and ArunsYoga.
Can I use music from a paid stock library?
Yes, if your subscription permits use on ArunsYoga’s site and channels. Provide the licence details on submission.
Is AI-generated content accepted?
We do not accept AI-generated content presented as original authored work. AI-assisted drafts are acceptable if disclosed and substantively reviewed and edited by you.
These guidelines may be updated from time to time. The version in force at the time of your submission applies to that submission. This page is a plain-language summary and does not replace the applicable Creative Commons licence text or any signed contributor agreement.
